Solar Home Lighting System
May 7th, 2008
The once expensive photovoltaic cells can now be obtained at a lower price as the process of producing them becomes easier and faster. The simple black panels called photovoltaic cells can direct sunlight more efficiently and prices are lower, thus making solar energy supply the next possible energy revolution in the near future. The cost to generate energy from the sun at the rate of one watt hour is around , which is quite low. If you consider the cost about 17 years ago when it was nearly double this is an improvement.
There’s no question about how environment-friendly solar powered electricity generation is. This is an alternative form of energy production that does not emit any hazardous material into the environment and uses something that is naturally available as its source. Today, solar collection cells have become very popular additions to the rooftops of people’s houses. They are not a difficult system to use for heating one’s home, creating hot water, or producing electricity. For solar water heating, the water is allowed to pass through the cells, from where it gets heated and supplied to your home through pipes.
Today, photovoltaic cells have become efficient enough to accumulate heat from the sun even when the weather is cloudy or stormy. One company in particular, Uni-Solar, has developed solar collection arrays for the home that work well on inclement days, by way of a technologically more advanced system that stores more energy at one time during sunlit days than previous or other arrays. Solar Home lighting System are powered by solar energy using solar cells that convert solar energy (sunlight) directly to electricity.
The PV system is another system to produce solar power. The system is attached to the closest grid of electricity so if a home produces more electricity by its solar system, this energy is channelled into the grid, which can now utilize this energy for electricity production and will not have to depend wholly on hydroelectricity. By providing such a network, the PV system allows you to use a cheap environment friendly source of energy and itself works without much pressure on it. In some parts of the world, centralized solar arrays are being designed to serve whole urban and suburban settlements.
The indication of the practicability and the economic sense behind solar power generation is clearly understood from the entry of several corporate entities into this area. Two notable examples are Google and Wal-Mart - while Google has installed a 1.6 MW solar power plant on the roof of its headquarters, Wal-Mart intends to use a 100 MW system that it will devise.
The subsidies and tax benefits provided by the governments of US, Japan, Germany and Switzerland among other countries to people or to corporate entities that install and use solar power plants for their purposes are helping to further popularize this concept. By checking out the new inventions in the solar trapping technology, new investors will want to cash in on the technology and make profits with it and this will only bring in more popularity to solar power generation.
